Please note downloading updates, maps and mods is not fun with a modem and Quake III files are big take ThreeWave its a massive 130MB download.
You need help in the form of a download program which has resume support what this means is if you get cut off after 2 hours which some I.S.Ps do (Cheers BTI) you can restart the download from where it stopped, not only that but it looks for the file on a faster server and spilts it up into pieces for speeder downloading.

OSP Mod
This is one of the most popular Quake III mods you will come accross lots of servers running it.In the UK servers run it extensively. The easiest way to download the client side files which we are interested in is.
1. Make sure automatic downloading is turned on from the main Q3 menu select Setup, Game Options, toggle automatic downloading on
2. If your using an autoexe.cfg file add seta cl_allowdownload "1" to it.
3.Once you have done one of the above connect to an O.S.P. server eg Jolts Servers.
4. As with most Q3 mods O.S.P. is being updated and if for some reason you can`t connect to an O.S.P. server it may be running a different version than you. To download the version the server is using delete your version of O.S.P. which can be found at C:\Program Files\Quake 3 Arena\osp (if you used the default Quake III install path) and the next time you connect to the troublesome server Q3 will automatically download the right files for you.
5. If you connect to a server and it starts to download the O.S.P. maps a large file of 35 MB or more you may as well bite the bullet and download the full O.S.P. mod and maps.
